A sub- Chief of the Busunu Traditional Area of Gonja Zantaniwura Gabriel Gbolo Dari who was known in private life as Gabby- Hayes has commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency Alhaji Yussif Sulemana asking a public interest question on 19th February, 2024 at Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee sitting about the status of the Damongo water Project.

He further commended the Bole MP who is the Ranking Member of Ghana’s Parliament on Trade and Industry for his generally impressive performance in Parliament and especially at the Public Accounts Committee Sittings he follow closely everyday the Committee sits.

Zantaniwura Gabriel Gbolo Dari stated said anytime people hear MPs speaking on their behalf on such critical matters some of them become very happy.

Zantaniwura Gabriel Gbolo Dari wrote; “I wish to commend the MP for Bole- Bamboi, Hon Yussif for asking a public interest question today, 19th February, 2024 at Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee Sitting about the status of the Damongo water Project.

The Busunu Traditional Area Sub-Chief said; “The response from the Managing Director (MD) of the Ghana Water Company Dr Clifford Braimah stated that fortunately for Damongo, some high yielding artesian wells have been located in Damongo from which water is going to be supplied through tanks to about 15,000 residents if I got him right”.

Zantaniwura Gabriel Gbolo Dari said; “This is indeed good news as the MD stated that the contractor is already on site laying pipes to follow suit with the installation of tanks”; adding; “I believe it is important to make the people understand the difference between the major project from Yapei to serve Tamale and Damongo and the minor one trying to supply water from the artesian wells.

He said; “Perhaps if the people are told in simple language the current scope of the Damongo water project, then their hopes might not be raised too high. Infact when the discussions were ongoing at the sitting, I was wondering who would raise the issue of the Damongo water Project; but fortunately, Hon Murtala raised the Tamale problem and then Hon.Yussif followed with the Damongo problem”.

Zantaniwura Gabriel Gbolo Dari stated; “When we hear our MPs speaking on our behalf on such critical matters some of us become very happy and I wish to commend once again Hon.Yussif for his generally impressive performance in Parliament and especially at the Public Accounts Committee Sittings which I follow closely every day the Committee sits”.

He concluded, “I make my statement as usual as a  free and independent-  minded citizen and under nobody’s influence and inducement”.
