The Executive Director of the Boresa Royal Foundation Nkilgiwurche Boresa has advised all to advocate or champion women empowerment as they commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child today 11th October, 2021.

Speakimg on Bole based Nkilgi fm, Queen Boresa said the international day of the girl child is celebrated on the 11th day of October every year to empower and amplify the voice of young girls around the world.

She said the celebration started in 1995 in a womens conference in Belgian and 26 years on, they are still commemorating the international day of the girl child.

She said the theme for this year’s celebration is “Digital generation our generation”.

Queen Boresa said we are in a digital erra now and everything is about social media.

She said they are trying to find an innovative way of reaching out to young girls to make them better people.

She said achieving gender equality and womens empowerment is one of their core mandates, hence they are commemorating the international day of the girl child.

Queen Boresa admonished each and everyone to prioritise the education of the girl child. She added that gone were the days that girls were pushed to the kitchen, but in today’s world, “what men can do women can do better”

Queen Boresa further said “if you educate a man, you educate a person. But if you educate a man, you educate the world”.

She called on parents to prioritise their girls education and to take care of their needs.
