About 1734 dual desk were handed over to the Bole District Ghana Education Service Directorate by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Madam Veronica Alele Heming on Friday 18th November 2022 for onward distribution to schools.
Speaking at a brief ceremony, Madam Veronica Alele welcomed all and sundry and expressed how excited she was after the acquisition of the dual desks for the schools. She recounted how she laid on her belly to write from Primary 1 to 3 while at Sonyo primary school many years ago, a situation she doesn’t want the current generation of students to go through.
The DCE said; “Today is a happy day to the Bole District Assembly and the Ghana Education Service in Bole as we were lucky to get some funds to purchase about 1734 dual desk for schools in the Bole District of the Savannah Region”.
She disclosed that the Bole District Assembly earlier purchased about 2000 dual desk to help schools.
Madam Veronica Alele Heming also said she discussed with the Bole District directorate as to whether the 1735 dual desk were enough to help solve the problem of children lying down to write on their bellies, but was told it will help but not totally solve or eradicate the problem, hence anytime the Assembly gets more funds, more of the dual desk will be purchased.
She also stated that, education was paramount and dear to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s heart and that she stands on behalf of the president of Ghana to present the dual desk to schools in the Bole District.
The Bole Ghana Education Service director Mr Sulemana Yahaya on behalf of Ghana Education Service, Teachers and students in the Bole District to thank the DCE and the Bole District Assembly for the dual desk.
He also confirmed that the dual desk will be put in to proper use. Meanwhile the DCE also admonished with the GES directorate to move round the schools in Bole District with a carpenter to fix all broken furniture.
The funding of the 1734 dual desk was gotten from DPAT(District Assembly Accessment Tool).
