The Gonjaland Research and Constitution Drafting Committee under the leadership of the Tingawura of the Bole Traditional Area Sampson Seidu Abudu and mandated to facilitate the review of the Gonja constitution, has visited the Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) at his Palace on 20th February, 2024.

The visit was to brief the Bolewura, his Chiefs and Queen Mothers on the review of the 1930 constitution of Gonja.

Speaking exclusively to Bole based Nkilgi fm, the President of the Gonjaland Youth Association Lawyer Mohammed Amin Osman said their visit to the Bolewura’s Palace is to officially inform the Bolewura and his sub-Chiefs and Queen Mothers about the review of constitution as the current constitution is outdated.

He said Gonjaland has many people who have interest in the review of the 1930 constitution and for that matter they came to meet the Bolewura and to form a local committee and that the committee will be feeding the review committee with information on.tbe history nd customs of the Bole Traditional.

The Gonjaland Youth Association President added that their visit is also to enable the people of Bole to help feed the local committee with all necessary informations the need about Bole, be it tradition, boundaries, enskinments and so on that will make the work of the review committee easy.

He said the review committee can not do their work without the involvement of the local people and that they must tell their story and history for all to be put together to form one document.

Lawyer Mohammed Amin Osman added that the committee can not sit on their own to write anything about Bole because no one can tell the story about Bole than the people of Bole.

He said that is the main reason why they came to help get the necessary information to aid in the drafting of the constitution.

He said the review committee will continue to Sonyor, Kong, Jang, Kandia, and all the other traditional areas in Gonjaland to be able to put together the framework.

Lawyer Amin Mohammad said copies of the framework has been sent to the chiefs to make their inputs and that they pray within one month, the local committee should be able to furnish the review committee with the information needed.

The President of the Gonjaland Youth Association urged all to come on board because it is a big project and everybody must support it and also encourage everyone to contribute towards it.

He pleaded that the youth should limit all the social media commentaries and move to their traditional areas and support the local committee with the history the have about their area and support it with reference for the constitution to be reviewed.
