The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor has taken up the cost of transportation of the two kids who accidentally got burnt at Damongo-Zongo in the West Gonja Municipality to Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment and management.

This followed after the Assemblyman for the Zongo/Langbanto electoral area, HoNn Nuhu Kantamah Abdul Ganiyu drew the Damongo MP’s attention to the tragic incident at his private residence in Damongo on Friday 16th February, 2024.

The Damongo MP gave an amount of One Thousand Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHc1,200) to the caretakers for the transport of the said children from the St’Annes Hospital to Tamale Teaching Hospital.

This said amount was delivered to them by the Assemblyman for the area and Mr. Ali the NPP NTC polling station Chairman at the hospital on 16th February, 2024.

Mr Ali on his part reiterated the commitment of the MP to support their transport for medical attention. He indicated that the Hon Abu Jinapor wished he had come in person but as a result of other equally important assignments he couldn’t.

The caretakers in turn expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the MP and all those who facilitated their support.

The children have since been transported to the burns unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

It would be recalled that two siblings from Damongo-Zongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the savannah region on 15th February, 2024 were rushed to the St. Anne’s Catholic Hospital following a fire accident that left them in critical conditions.

Mr Abubakari Sadique, an uncle to the victims , disclosed in an interview that one of the victims, due to the severity of the burns on his body had been referred to Tamale for further medical attention with financial constraints being a problem for the family to transfer them to the Tamale Teaching Hospital promptly.

The family later launched an appeal for assistance from well-wishers to enable them afford the required medical care and transportation costs to ensure the survival and recovery of the injured kids which through the assembly man for the area, the MP has taken up the cost.
