The Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency of the Savannah Region Mr Jonathan Giibieri has disclosed in a letter to the the unfair treatment from his Constituency Chairman in the person of Mr Fuseini Mohammed after he contested the parliamentary primaries of the party in the constituency.
Bole based Nkilgi Fm intercepted a letter Mr Jonathan Gilbieri wrote to the General Secretary of the NPP and other stakeholders, dated 10th February, 2024 in which he disclosed that; “The Constituency Chairman has refused to give me and some Constituency executives that he accused of not supporting his preferred candidate in the parliamentary primaries of our 10% of the SOCO money of over GH¢120,000 allocated to the constituency executives”.

The SOCO project seeks to improve the regional collaboration, socio-economic and climate resilience of border-zone communities in the target northern regions of the Gulf of Guinea countries exposed to conflict and climate risks.
Jonathan Gilbieri also said the Constituency Chairman Fuseini Mohammed since December has refused to give him his monthly support from the NPP National office.
He added that Hon when Abu Jinapor the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources donated rice to the various constituencies, the Chairman refused to give him his share and those executives the Chairman accused of not supporting his candidate in the Parliamentary primaries and equally denied them of the rice from National executives to the constituency executives.
The Constituency Secretary of NPP for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba stated; “I can’t associate this behaviour with anything either than greed and a ploy to distort the chances of the victory of the candidate”.
On the Constituency Chairman not recognising him as the Secretary of NPP for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency Jonathan Gilbieri said; “I am a two term constituency Secretary of my party (NPP) in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency. I contested the 2020 parliamentary primaries and lost then I continued as the Secretary until I won the second term as constituency Secretary in the last executives elections.
The letter added;
“Then this year, I contested again for PC (Parliament Candidate)
due to my passion to rescue the Sawla seat. Again, I lost”.
Mr Jonathan Gilbieri further said; “On the very election day, I congratulated the winner via whatsapp. In four days later the candidate visited me and we exchanged pleasantries and discussed the way forward but uddenly, my chairman started chatting a path of removing me as Secretary”.
He also disclosed that after the Parliamentary
elections which he lost, he tried to get back to his original position of Secretaryship but, the consituency Chairman would not want to see him as his Secretary.
Mr Gilbieri added that the Chairman Mr Fuseini Mohammed told him point blank that, he is the Constituency Chairman and has the authority to do whatever that he wants so far as Sawla-Tuna-Kalba is concerned and that he has sacked him”.
“On several occasions he referred to em as ‘former Chairman'”; Mr Gilbieri disclosed.
He stated; “The party constitution does not ban me for continuing as Secretary after losing primaries”.
Jonathan Giibieri called on the General Secretary of the NPP to investigate the issue and resolve it ans instruct the Constituency Chairman to operate as the Constituency Secretary without any hindrance.
