The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) has forwarded a petition to the King and Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) on Kongwura allegedly preparing to install a chief for a community popularly called and referred to as ‘Abasuma-kura’’ in
the Bole Traditional Area of Gonja Kingdom.
The petition dated 29th January, 2024, signed by the Secretary to the Bolewura Mr Haruna Abdulai Owy and copied to Buipewura Jinapor (II) who is Vice President of Gonja Traditional Council, the Savannah Regional Minister who is Chairman of RESEC, the Chairperson of
DISEC in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, all Paramount Chiefs
Gonja Traditional Area and the President of the
Gonjaland Youth Association said; “The Attention of the Bole Traditional Council headed by Yiram, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) has been drawn to fact that Kong wura Jenkurige (I) is allegedly preparing to install a chief for one community popularly called and referred to as ‘’Abasuma-kura’’ in
the Bole Traditional Area of Gonja Kingdom.
The petition from Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) furthersaid; “Having taken due consideration of the issue in question, the President of Bole Traditional
Council, Yiram, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) in consultation with his council of elders have resolved that; “The said Community is situated and lying between Gbenfu and Ntereso which forms part Bole the Bole traditional area which was formally under Gbenfu Lands.
The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area,
Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) said he is not part or party to such a decision of the Kong wura on the following grounds;
“I Bolewura will not entertain any duplication of chiefs in any community since this would
surely lead to anarchy and lawlessness.
“I Bolewura have been advised by the council of elders that the District Security Committee
are enjoined by law to promote reconciliation, encourage and facilitate the
settlement of chieftaincy disputes amicable between and among parties who appear before them.
“As Paramount Chief of Bole Traditional Area, I Bolewura do not want to be part of any Chieftaincy dispute or troubles”.
The petition stated that the Bole Traditional Council headed by Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) on
November 27th, 2023 nominated Alhaji Ofori of Tinga, as the legitimate chief of the said community in line with the custom and traditions of Gonja Kingdom.
The Bolewura called on the King and Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) to restrain Kong wura or his subjects or whosoever acting for or on behalf of him from holding himself out or in any way acting as or discharging the functions of Abasumah Chief of Bole Traditional Area.
