The Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo Constituency, Hon Samuel Abdulai Jinapor has presented a total amount of Eighty Thousand Ghana Cedi’s (GHc 80,000) to the Damongo Municipal Education Directorate as part of his annual contribution towards the preparation of the 2023 final year Junior High Schools candidates common mock examination in the Municipality.
The amount which was presented to the Municipal Education Director on behalf of the MP by the Coordinator of the office of the MP, Mr Bawa Fuseini a.k.a Capacity on Friday 19th May 2023, indicated that, education is one of the major campaign message of the Hon. Abu Jinapor prior to his election as the legislature of the Damongo Constituency in 2020 which he has taken upon himself to change the narrative following the poor results that is been recorded in the Municipality.
Mr Bawa Fuseini a.k.a Capacity said, the amount presented to the education Directorate is done annually to reduce the burden on parents as the candidates would be taken through free extra classes put together by the Municipal Education Directorate, including the writing, marking and going though the papers with the candidates after the marking all at a cost fully taken care of by the MP.
He added that, the Damongo Constituency MP has pledged to change the narrative of education in the constituency and will make sure he supports the course in ensuring the directorate at all times is doing their best for the welfare of students in the constituency.
The West Gonja Municipal Director of Education, Mr Akey Ferguson thanked the MP for all that he has been doing to support the forward match of education in the municipality.
Mr Ferguson indicated that, the continues support from the MP for the past 3 years is really helping the course of education in the municipality adding that, before the intervention of the MP, the past rate in the year 2020 was 18.6% pass rate which has jumped appreciably to 36% following his intervention.
He indicated that, the support from the MP will be duely used for it’s intended purposes and on behalf of the Municipal Education Directorate thanked the Damongo MP for all that he has been doing for them.
Mr B.Y. Abdulai, Chairman of the Collation Of Basic Schools (COBS) who is the head of all headteachers in Basic schools in the West Gonja Municipality in his speech outlined how the money is going to be used to prepare the candidates for the examination.
He said, the MP has been supportive to not only students but also to Teachers which is yielding the results many are witnessing today and also on behalf of his colleagues thanked the MP for always doing his best to improve the performance of education in the Municipality.
