Former President John Dramani Mahama has donated food items to support the enskinment of the new King- elect of the Gonja Kingdom Tuluwewura Amonebafe Soale Mbema Borenyi (I) which has been slated for March 20, 2023 at Nyange in the Savanah region in accordance to Gonja traditions.
Former President Mahama made the donation on Friday, 17th March, 2023 through the executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region led by the Chairman Alhaji Seidu Imoro aka Man Blessing.
The items included 50 bags of Rice, 50 packs of Verna Drinking Water, 2 Bags of Maize and 2 Bags of Dried Cassava with a cash amount of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 30,000).
Alhaji Imoro in an interview during the donation disclosed that former President as a son of the land will personally be at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo for the coronation ceremony of the enskinned
Yagbonwura on Tuesday March 21, 2023.
Chief Benkrowura Seidu Saaka Bakari who has been appointed as the Spokesperson for the Yagbonwura- elect and who received the donation on behalf of the Yagbonwura- elect Enskinment and Outdooring committee thanked former President Mahama for the donation and indicated that the ew Gonja King is ready to welcome Mr Mahama to the Palace as a royal of the Gonja kingdom.
The Yagbonwura- elect Soale Mbema Amonebafe Borenyi (I) will be enskined on 20th March, 2023 at Nyange, the ancient Traditional capital of Gonja, in accordance to all Gonja traditions for enskinment of a King and Overlord of Gonja (Yagbonwura).
The processes for enskinment starts on the night of Sunday 19th March, 2023 at Nyange where some sacred rites are expected to be performed by some sections of the Gonja Traditional Clans with the coronation expected to take place on Tuesday 21st March 2023.
