The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor on 24th June, 2022, connected 3 farming communities in the West Gonja Municipality to the national electricity grid.
The communities include Sori No1, Sori No2 and Sori No 3.
The Damongo MP in an address before commissioning in each of the connected communities spoke on the importance of having access to electricity and urged the communities to make good use of the electrification project.
He told the communities that he has fully paid for the cost of all the meters provided to the various households in addition to the provision of street lights in all the three communities to brighten the communities at night .
Assemblyman for the Kotito/Sori electoral area Mr Seidu Fuseini commended the Damongo MP for his kind gesture of brightening his electoral area and used the opportunity to appeal to him to build a CHPs compound for the Sori No1 community since that is another major problem facing that community..
The Assemblyman further appealed to the MP to work on the road linking the 3 communities to Damongo.
The Chief for Sor No. 3, Kotitowura Jebuni Bakari on behalf of the residents of the 3 communities expressed his happiness.
He used that opportunity to thank the Damongo MP for fulfilling his campaign promise made to them prior to the 2020 General election since the communities never anticipated being connected to the national grid anytime soon.
Kotitowura Jebuni Bakari urged the MP to continue to bring change to the Damongo Constituency in terms of development.
The electrification project was facilitated by the MP in fulfillment of a request made by the communities prior to the 2020 General elections to connect them to electricity and executed by Tropical electrical cables and conductors engineering Limited.
Meanwhile, Hon Jinapor has disclosed that the Buipe-Kotito-Damongo road has been awarded to a contractor from Abidjan (Cote’d Ivoire) who will be visiting the area soon to access the nature of the road and to begin work subsequently
The Savannah Regional Minister Mr Saeed Muazu Jibriel, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Gonja, Mr Musah Karim Kusubari, the DCE for Sawla-Tuna- Kalba Madam Barkisu Losina and some constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by the Chairman, Alhaji Adam Braimah were with the Damongo MP during the commissioning.
