An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democrayic Congress (NDC) in the Salaga South Constituency of the Savannah Region and her team of party activists are on the move and have embarked on a two day visit of the Kulaw area of Salaga South constituency to observe the Electoral Commission’s EC) Limited Registration exercise that is ongoing.
Hajia Zuwera is plotting to take over the Salaga South seat which is the only constituency the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won in the Savannah Region in the 2016 elections by a small margin and so currently occupied by Hon Salifu Adam Braimah Salifu who doubles as the Minister of the Savannah Region. While Hon Salifu Adam Braimah of NPP got 12,707 (39.85%) votes, the then NDC candidate Alhaji Ibrahim Dey Abubakari polled 12,660 (39.71%) .
Speaking to Bole- based Nkilgi Fm, Hajia Zuwera said she took the opportunity to visit the Kijewu Area of the Kulaw area of the Salaga South constituency where the EC registration was taking place for two days to ascertain how the exercise was going on.
Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah who is lacing her boots to contest as the NDC candidate for the Salaga South constituency said having made some observations she informed the Secretary and other NDC branch executives of the Kijewu Polling Station about the non -attendance of NDC party agents to monitor and also to take copies of the daily registration returns.
She offered them a little bit of financial support to enable them deploy party agents for the three day exercise in their electoral area.
Thereafter Hajia Zuwera and her team informed the executives of the other electoral areas to ensure that party agents are duly and appropriately deployed to the registration centres. Hajia Zuwera said; “I know our Constituency Executives are on top of the issues and are offering the necessary technical and logistical support to our members in those areas”.
Who is Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah?
Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah is the daughter of the late Kuntundawura, Prof, Alhaji Mohammed Zublilah Ibrahimah of Kpembe. He was a former principal and Rector of Tamale Polytechnic.
Hajia Zuwera had her childhood in Winneba and her Secondary Education in Tamale and Nigeria where her father was then a lecturer at the Adu Bayero university in Kano, Nigeria.
Hajia Zuwera holds a BA in Management Studies from the Cape Coast University, a post Graduate Diploma in Community Development, from Trent University in Canada, an MA in Communication Studies from the school of communication studies, University of Ghana as well as an EMBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana Business School.
Hajia Zuwera also hold a Masters Degree in Diplomacy and International Trade from the University of East Anglia in the UK. Hajia is currently on her thesis project in pursuit of a PhD in Media and Communication from the Goldsmiths College, University of London in the United Kingdom.
Hajia Zuwera straddles a background of work experience in development work, Administration and diplomacy. She worked as a project officer on Small Town Water Supply Systems in the three Northern Regions during which time her operational area included the East Gonja District.
She was also a project officer with the Catholic Relief Services and worked on the Quality Improvements in Primary school programme. Again East Gonja district was one of her operational areas and in this capacity, she worked with Kpeme and Lonto Primary school.
Still in the area of development, Hajia Zuwera worked as a consultant on the UNICEF Water and Sanitation Joint Monitoring Platform. She also worked severally as the country Nanager of the Association of Charered Certified Accountant and the country Representative of the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership.
As a diplomat, Hajia Zuwera worked as the Minister-Counsellor and Head of Information and Public Relations of the Ghana High Commission in London. She is currently a managing consultant of INSITU productions, a media and communications company. Professionally, Hajia Zuwera is a media and Communications expert as well as an astute community development and empowerment professional and a politician.
