A heavy downpour in Northern Ghana in the early morning of 17th September 2023, has washed away a bridge at Bole in in the Savannah Region cutting off the Upper West Region to Southern Ghana.
The washing away of the Doli Bridge close to Bole has made thousands of passengers and commuters from Southern Ghana to Upper West and vice versa stranded as there is no way they can get to their destinations through that stretch of road.
The busy road is also the main highway that leads Ghana to Burkina Faso and Mali with hundreds of trucks passing through the area
Meanwhile the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency Alhaji Yussif Sulemana has disclosed that he has already infomed a number of stakeholders including the Speaker of Parliament, Minister of Roads and Highways and the Savannah Regional Minister over the emergency.
The Bole MP said the Savannah Regional Minister got in touch with the Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads who promised to dispatch his men immediately.
Alhaji Yusif Sulemana further disclosed that he is in touch with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole and that they are collaborating on this emergency.
