As the race for key positions in the upcoming Constituency branch elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bole- Bamboi Constituency of the Savannah Region gets closer, Mr. Alhassan Osman has made known his intention to contest for the position of Chairman for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency.
In an interview with Bole based Nkilgi Fm on 18th August, 2022, Mr. Alhassan Osman said, having served the party faithfully for years, he deems it necessary to present himself for elections as a chairman because, he believes in putting in place the necessary party structures to efficiently expedite the functions of the party in the Constituency, in order to be well prepared for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections come 2024.
He said, he did not venture into politics nor intend to stand for the position of chairmanship for selfish gains but to ensure the parties structures work and to add his experience and knowledge to other executive members to achieve the aim of getting Former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC back into power come 2024.
The Chairman hopeful for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency Mr. Alhassan Osman disclaimed allegations going round that he was disqualified at the vetting committee of the Bole- Bamboi Constituency during the last elections that he applied to contest as Chairman, because he is a member of the National Democratic Party (NDP) chairman and so campaigned for the then flag bearer of NDP, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.
Mr Alhassan said the petition made against him was frivolous and contain malice seeking to damage his political image as a loyal member of the NDC and at no instance has he ever been a chairman for NDP or campaign for NDP, he dared who ever challenges him to prove him wrong.
He disclosed to Nkilgi Fm that the issue of his alliance with NDP came up during the vetting process for the position of chairman 3 years ago of which he was able to prove to the vetting committee that he was a long serving committed member of the NDC by providing his membership card as well as indicating the number of years he had served the party.
He said the issue about a petition against him was brought to an end because he put it forward to the vetting committee that, the petitioner wasn’t there to defend what he wrote against him and therefore that petition can’t be used against him because he has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the petition against him has no evidence nor substance of truth.
Mr Alhassan Osman said, the only problem he had was that, he was told there were some errors on his forms and he should try and correct them the next time he picks a form.
He acknowledged the past and present NDC Chairmen and executives but said, he believes it’s time to introduce fresh faces and minds on deck to bring in fresh ideas to carry the party forward, he bemoaned the instances of divisiveness in the party with some executives doing what pleases them to the detriment of the success of the party in the Constituency.
He said, some few Executives of the party now take major decisions without the broader consultation of other executives and leader’s of the party which is very wrong because, the NDC party functions as a larger family with unity and understanding, therefore, the party should be made accessible to every member of the party to contribute in decision making without being gagged or intimidated.
He made it known that his support and care for the party over the years has been monumental and given the mandate to lead the NDC as a Chairman will offer him more opportunity to support the party with reforms agenda that will focus on full utilization of party structures to promote unity, peace and empowerment to all members of the NDC in Bole-Bamboi Constituency because he is a person who doesn’t discriminate amongst people and should be the right chairman to run the office of the NDC wing in the Constituency.
