The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region has issued cautioned to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region to as a matter of urgency remove part posters pasted on the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) equipments distributed across the various districts in the region.

At a press conference addressed by the NDC Communication Officer for the NDC in the Savannah Region, Mr R.A Jalil on Monday 9th September, 2024 in Damongo, the NDC petitioned the Savannah Regional Minister Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril, the Kimg and Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) Yagbonwura and the leadership of the NPP to immediately take off their party posters from the equipments or else the NDC will also in the next 3 days brand the equipments in NDC Colours.

He stated; “Indeed, before these equipment were dispatched to the various Districts, posters of the NPP parliamentary candidates were seen on these equipments and presented as though they were those who purchased them for the purposes of maintaining our roads. It is our candid position that this practice undermines and compromises the independence and the integrity of our public services especially, our MMDA’s, and this, will effectively erode the trust and confidence taxpayers ought to have for them and their operations”.

R.A. Jalili said the NPP Parliamentary candidates in the 7 constituencies of the region have been given access to rather use the equipments for campaigning purposes instead of the initial assurance of the equipments being used by all irrespective of political affiliations of any individual.

“We request the law enforcement agency to enforce the law to ensure that the equipments are available for the use of all by the immediate removal of all political posters from the equipments”, Mr Jalil added.

He indicated further that clear guidelines must be stated as to how the equipments should be used to the benefits of all and not to be used to hoodwink unsuspecting voters in the Savannah Region, adding that the various assemblies in the region must make the machines available to opposition leaders especially parliamentary candidates in the region anytime the request for any of them to be used for the maintenance of any road to benefit the people.
