The Minister for the Savannah Region and Chairman of the Savannah Regional
Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril has in a response to a press statement by the Gempe family of Damongo, has vehemently denied accusations of bias amidst recent escalating tensions in the Damongo chieftaintcy disputes.

Mr Muhazu Jibriel asserted REGSEC’s commitment to neutrality in the ongoing matter and disclaimed any involvement in directing military or police support to any faction.

In response to issue, the Chairman of Savannah REGSEC expressed bewilderment at the allegations, labeling them as “false” and insinuating a hidden agenda behind the accusations.

Despite assuming responsibility for the situation, the REGSEC Chairman and Regional Minister for the Savannah Region emphasized that no instructions were given to security forces to intervene or provide security on behalf of any group and that, it was done at the blindside of he, the regional Minister.

Meanwhile the Regional Minister has urged Journalists and the general public to conduct thorough investigations into the matter, refuting claims of secret meetings with the regional police commander.

He further clarified that the Savannah Regional Police commander in question was not present in Damango during the alleged period of interaction, challenging the authenticity of the accusations.

Addressing concerns over REGSEC’s role in the Damongo chieftaintcy dispute, Mr Saeed clarified that REGSEC only intervenes upon formal requests from affected MUSECs or DISECs and emphasized their commitment to impartiality.

The Savannah Regional Minister and REGSEC Chairman concluded with a condemnation of the reported police support for one faction over another, condemning it as a breach of trust and integrity and further vowed to address the issue within the framework of REGSEC’s mandate and uphold their commitment to fairness and justice.

The Gembe family of the Dangepe Gate of Damongo said they have withdrawn every member of their family from being members of the NPP citing the involvement of the Savannah Regional Minister Hon Saeed Muhaz Jibrel in his alleged involvement in the Damongo Chieftaincy issues.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Dolonpewura Isaac Dramani Jamani on behalf of the family at the family house in Damongo, accused the Savannah Regional Minister Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril of using the security on the 17th of April 2024 to harass and intimidate them all in support of the enskinment of Chief Sakara from the Lermu Gate as Kulasewura which the family claims that chieftaincy title belongs to the Dangepe Gate and not the Lermu Gate.

Chief Dolonpewura Isaac Dramani Jamani on behalf of his family stated that;
”This illegal enskinement received the full backing of the Savannah Regional minister Hon. Saeed Muhaz Jibrel”.

Dolopewura Isaac Dramani Jamani stated that the Kulasewura Chieftaincy title belongs to the people of Dangepe Gate whiles the Kesepewura title belongs to the Lermu gate hence, enskinning anyone from Lermu gate as Kulasewura is illegal and the family disassociate themselves from that enskinment.
