The King and Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) has issued a special message urging calm on the recent impasse between Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso and his people (I) and the Jahori Clan of Gonja.

The message of Yagbonwura delivered by Alhaji Abdulai Issah Bakari, an Aide and Son of Yagbonwura on 27th March, 2024 said Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) is his son who can ascend the Yagbon skin while the Jahori Clan are part of Gonja since it’s foundation with their head the Jahori- wura serving as a Council of Elder at the Yagbonwura’s Palace.

The King and Overlord of Gonja who expressed his disgust over the burning of some houses of members of the Jahori Clan at Bole and Sawla added that the issue need to be resolved amicably and that he is making moves to use he time tested traditions of Gonja to do that so that there will be peace in the Bole area.

The King and Overlord of Gonja said the controversy between the Bolewura and his people and Jahori Clan started during the reign of his predecessor Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I) who did everything to resolve the issue but was not successful and that the issue later became a matter of litigation in court with both the Jahori Clan and the Bolewura suing each other at a Tamale High Court.

The King and Overlord of Gonja said he was in the process kick starting a reconciliation process so that Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) and his subjects and the Jahori Clan of Gonja can live in peace and the unfortunate incident happened which has disheartened his heart since it is a matter between his son Bolewura and his Council of Elder in the scheme of Gonja affairs.

Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) entreated Jahoriwura Aseiku Timtey and his people not to retaliate the burnimg of a few of their houses and that he is making moves to resolve the issue so that there will be peace between Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) and members of the Jahori Clan of Bole.

The King and Overlord of Gonja however bemoaned the rate at which issues of Chieftaincy and land in Gonja are rushed to the law courts without resorting to the time tested Gonja traditional methods of resolving such issues.
