The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor has assured the people of the Ngbaripe, a suburb of Damongo that the annual perennial flooding in the area will soon be a thing of the past.

The Damongo MP in an interview with the media on Friday 19th January 2023 at the ongoing project site said that after visiting the construction of the massive drainage system in the area expressed his satisfaction about the rate of work that is ongoing at the site.

He indicated that the area which has recorded several flooding cases over the years, resulting to loss of properties almost every year will alleviate the risks posed by the perilous gutter near the Almanara Primary School that has been a nightmare for residents of the area especially during the raining season.

He disclosed that the project would be completed in the next two months and handed over to residents of the area.

The Damongo MP in 2018 prior to his becoming the member of Parliament for the constituency assured residents of the area that he will ensure a befitting drainage system is constructed for them.

He took the first step of installing 3 metal bridges over the gutter which many people refer to as the biggest and deadliest gutter in the municipality to ensure a safe passage for residents especially students of the Almanara Primary School.

The project when completed will address the underlying issue of flooding and further safeguard the numerous houses along the gutter from potential destruction especially during the rainy season as it is strategically designed to divert excess water away from residential areas to end the annual flooding situation in the area.

The contractor Ashmal Construction Limited has assured the member of Parliament and the residents of the area that the project would be completed in the estimated time and handed over before the onset of the rainy season.

Some residents of the Ngbaripe Hangaline electoral area expressed their gratitude to the Damongo MP for his continuous service and dedication to improving the lives of the people in the Damongo constituency.
