The Former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo constituency, Adam Mutakilu has disclosed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost the Damongo Constituency seat to the NPP because of vote buying.

Addressing Party faithfuls of the NDC at the inaugural ceremony of the Savannah Youth wing working committee on Saturday 16th Decembe, 2023, the Former MP for Damongo constituency said, in 2020 elections, the center of battle for parliamentary seats was in Damongo and that the elections was not easy because the NDC did all that it could but lost.

According to him, if one observed the number of Ministers and names of high profile persons of the NPP who visited Damongo during the 2020 elections from the NPP, they were more than five and with their own estimation they spent over 21 million Ghana cedis for only 34,589 voters and they ended up beating him with 2,710, which is the same differences he beat his opponent in 2016 who had no much resources.

Hon. Adam Mutakilu further said that, this time around the NDC will beat the NPP with strategy and skills. He said, the youth commander of the partybhas assured that he will be frequently visiting Damongo for effective campaigning.

He added, “I have a very strong youth organizer and has been able to mobilize the youth and during the limited registration we tested it and it worked”.

According to him 2024 is about records because when the incumbent MP for Damongo Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor was coming to contest in the 2020 elections he had no baggage and was only promising to voters what he will do but today Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has acquired more baggage which is a sign of victory for the NDC come 2024 elections.

The former Damongo MP said, he was expectant of his senior MPs and higj profile members to visit Damongo and campaign with him to show how dear the Damongo seat means to the NDC.

He thanked the Bole-Bamboi constituency MP Alhaji Yusif Sulemana for how he coordinates and brings all the MP’s and aspiring MPs together in the Savannah region.

He as well acknowledge the selfless efforts of the NDC Savannah Regional Chairman Alhaji Adams Imoro aka Man Blessing whiles the party is still in opposition indicating that this is the hallmark of a good chairman.
