The Chief of Mankuma, the Mankuma Kadewura, (Chief Priest), the Assembly Man for Mankuma electoral area in the Bole District of.the Savannah Region, Hon Thompson Sumani Abu and all opinion leaders in Mankuma have ban the felling of economic trees in the area.

Speaking to Bole based Nkilgi fm in an interview on 6th Decembe, 2023, the Assemblyman for Mankuma Electoral area Hon Sumani Abu Thompson said some young men and strangers are discriminately felling economic trees like Shea trees, Dawadawa frees including wet trees.

He said this despicable act is mainly for the burning of charcoal for commercial use.

The Assemblyman said the felling of these trees is not only detrimental to human existence, but also against the legal framework of afforestation.

The Mankuma Assembly man cautioned those in the act to take serious exception to this dangerous and inhuman behavior.

Hon Thompson added that any person or group of persons caught in the act would be fined seriously by the traditional authorities and in accordance with the law.

He said a taskforce would be inaugurated to apprehend perpetrators of the act.

The Mankuma Assembly man said notice has been served to the Bole Distinct Assembly, the Forestry Commission, the Bole Traditional Council, and the media.
