The Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission of Ghana Mr John Allotey has led a delegation of his Ministry to donate food items and a cash amount of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc50,000) to the Jakpa Palace towards the funeral of the late overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I).

The donated items include 40 bags of rice, bottles of schnapps drink and the GHc50,000.

At a short ceremony before the presentation, Mr John Allotey said the Mole National Park which is the largest wildlife reserve in the country is found within Gonjaland and that there is the need for the commission to come and commensurate with the chiefs and people of the Gonja traditional area for the lost and to support the palace for the funeral of the late King.

He said;
“We heard about the demise of the King, and if you are a tenant on somebody’s land and he is bereaved,you cannot sit down unconcerned. So we are here today with my deputy chief executive, the executive director and all the staff here to come and commiserate with the Gonja traditional area”.

Mr Allotey noted that Gonjaland hosts most of his staff at the Mole National Park, therefore the commission is ever grateful to the land owners.

Alhaji Losina Afuli who is a linguist at the Yagbonwura’s Palace on behalf of the Acting Head of State of the Gonja Kingdom, Sonyowura Kanyiti (I) expressed gratitude to the commission for the gesture.

He said the Mole National Park has been in touch with the Palace and supports the palace even when the late Yagbonwura was alive.

Alhaji Afuli praised the park manager who is now a chief at the Wasipe traditional area for the good job he is doing at the park.

The Chairman of the funeral planning committee of the late Yagbonwura Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi (I) received the donation on behalf of the Sonyowura.

The forestry commission CEO was accompanied to the palace by his Deputy Mr Nyadia Sulemana, some staff of the forestry commission from the headquaters and staff of the Mole National Park led by the Park manager Mr Ali Mahama.
