Pure Trust Foundation in partnership with Vibrant Village foundation presented 356 textbooks to Abasuma Kura primary School, a Community in the Bole District of the Savannah region on 26th January, 2023
Pure Trust Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization based in the Northern Regions capital, Tamale and Vibrant Village Foundation is based in the Upper West region capital Wa.
The presentation of 356 textbooks to Abasuma Kura community primary school in the Bole District of the Savannah region was done yesterd at the premises of the school and present were
the community members, the Bole District circuit supervisor, the Assembly man for the electoral area, the Head teacher of the school, and the pupils.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pure Trust Foundation-LB, Mr. Habib Haruna said, “the journey of presenting these 356 textbooks started some time ago.
as we always meet some members in this community and pass to Nteriso which got ignited in 2018 until one day when we made an engagement with the community people looking forward to empowering them in diverse ways as the main entering into the community has to do with income generating activities”.
He added that all the syllabi in the new educational curriculum and textbooks from kindergarten to primary six basics were provided.
Mr. Habib said that before the presentation, when they interacted with the headteacher of the school, he indicated the school didn’t have any textbooks even not a single one to teach the students which was very difficult to cope with, hence, the intervention of Pure Trust foundation to providing all the new curriculum syllabi to make teaching and comprehension easier for the students.
Mr Habib explained that the textbooks include physical education where the school is not having a training field, so he has engaged the community members to support, find land, and clear it for the use of the students as part of their learning.
According to Mr. Habib, he has discussed with the Bole district education directorate to assist the community with teachers as it is only one teacher who handles all subjects and students from the KG to primary six. He also pledged of putting up three rooms teacher accommodation to assist the stay of teachers who shall be posted to the community and to also avoid the extra cost of traveling in and out of Bole to the community.
He added that a playing ground for the school’s students, the installment of a see-saw, etc, and an ICT lab shall be created to assist the students to have the practical feel of a computer not only for the Abasuma Kura school but to support all the nearby communities in the area.
On behalf of the Bole District Ghana Education Service (GES) Director, the Bole District GES circuit supervisor, Mr Chonga Telli Nelson thanked pure trust foundation for supporting Abasuma Kura community primary school to get the new educational curriculum for learning.
He said the school is the luckiest in the Bole district to have received all the textbooks.
Mr Chonga added that it is the hope of the Bole district education directorate that if the pure trust foundation is able to complete the teacher accommodation as promised, they will post teachers there to stay and teach the students.
The Head teacher of the Abasuma Kura primary school, Mr. Dakura Ebenezer who happens to be the only teacher in the school and teaches all subjects from kindergarten to primary said that the provision of the Syllabi is going to help him, the pupils, and community in a long way.
He said he used to search for network as the community is in a remote area to download syllabus to teach the student which was very difficult and now that such books have been provide, it will make his work much easier and coping for the student.
The community leader, Mr. Saaka Dramani, the assemblyman for the electoral area, Hon. Abdullai Kassim as well as some women and parents who got the opportunity to speak thanked the two organizations for the immense support given to them always.
He explained that Pure Trust foundation has been a blessing to them since they arrived in the area in 2018 and that their other developmental projects include a Shea nut processing plant at a neighboring community of Ntereso, drilling of boreholes and other interventions . They pledge to always encourage and motivate their children to take their learning and schooling seriously.
