The five Eminent Committee of Chiefs tasked by the King and Overlord of Gonja Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I) to resolve chieftaincy issues in Gonjaland and headed by the Paramount Chief of the Buipe traditional area, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor (II) have on 29th June, 2021 resolved the Wasipe (Daboya) Na-emi (successor to Chief Imam) controversy with the Sakpari Clan of Daboya tasked to choose a successor from their clan to become the next Imam.

There was much tension at the venue of the meeting in Damongo attended by members of the committee who are Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor (II), (Chairman), Kpembewura Babange Ndefoso (IV), Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I), Kongwura Jinkurge (I) and Mankpanwura Jakpa Acho-
Ade Borenyi (I).

The mediation meeting ended in scuffle between the Limampe clan and the Sakpare clan of Daboya with a young man from the Sakpare beaten and his shirt torn. Several chairs belonging to the ECO-Club House in Damongo were destroyed by some rampaging youth from the Limampe clan who thronged the venue in Damongo with buses to support their leaders quest to be given the opportunity to select a successor to the current Imam.

The Damongo divisional police command deployed their men to maintain law and other at the venue and later escorted both sides of the issue back to Daboya.

Buipewura Jinapor who is the Chairman of the committee pleaded with those who were outside the hall agitating and making noise to exercise restraint since the committee has done exactly what is supposed to be done without fear or favour.

The Buipewura said the Sakpare clan of Daboya are entitled to the Imamship of Daboya but have been left out for long and so it is right that they become next to take over.

Some of the Limampe youth had very harsh words for members of the committee after their judgement and publicly accused the Chairman of the committee of taking bribe.

One of the boldly accused Buipewura in his face but Buipewura calmly asked him how much he can be bribed and also invoked the Quran.

The issue of Sawla Chief Imam was also about to be heard but had to be postponed because one of the sides was absent in yesterday’s meeting.

But the Chief Imam of Buipe, Alhaji Seidu pleaded with the Chief of Sawla to always be patient in some of the happenings in his area.

Sawlawura who was in the meeting pleaded with the Imam to be opened in telling the meeting what he has done wrong which the Chairman Buipewura quickly intervened by telling Sawlawura to exercise patience since he as a chief must listen to what people advice him to do.

Mandariwura Seidu Awusi who was also at the meeting asked why some of them do not have voices in such meetings and are often shut down and that if that goes on they might not come to meetings when invited but the Chairman of the committee Buipewura Jinapor (II) quickly responded to him that the Bolewura is the only one is member of the committee and so has a voice and not any other subchief from his traditional area.
