Wipe-Away Foundation, a nonprofit organization has presented a cheque of Ten Thousand US Dollars ($10000) to Madam Asana Issah, who has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and undergoing 3 sections of dialysis a week at the Renal dialysis unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region on Monday 30th November, 2020.
Madam Asana Issah, 36 and a mother of 3 according to specialist consult needs about $450,00.00 to undergo a kidney transplant overseas which the Wipe-Away Foundation launched a fundraising tour across the country and was able to raise the $10,000 to support Madam Asana.
Executive director of the Wipe-Away Foundation, Mr Mufti Habib Borejipkpir in a speech during a short ceremony to present the cheque of $10,000 to Madam Asana at the Renal dialysis unit in Tamale said he is very happy his outfit has been able to raise the amount through donations from individuals and other bodies which even though is not the total amount needed for the transplant but will augment part of the bill and used the opportunity to appeal for more support to help by donating to help save the live of Madam Asana Issah.
Madam Asana Issah amidst tears thanked the Wipe-Away Foundation for their support and appealed to the general public, philanthropists and other bodies to still come to her aid since she still needs more support to be able to undergo the kidney transplant overseas.
Mr Yahaya Wazam Adams, the nurse in charge of the Renal dialysis unit also in a speech thanked the Wipe-Away Foundation for the good job they are doing to help save the live of Madam Asana Issah.
Mr Adams said the cost involved in kidney related issues is very expensive and therefore used the opportunity to also appeal to the Wipe-Away Foundation to make more donations not only to Madam Asana Issah but also to other patients in the center.
Patients visits the center 3 times every week paying Ghc900 every week with each session costing Ghc300 to undergo dialysis sessions minus the cost of drugs.
