Bole based Nkilgi FM has been shortlisted to receive the Best Radio station Award in the Savannah Region Award at the 25th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards Night at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra on Saturday 24th October, 2020.

The 2020 GJA awards, which seeks to award deserving Journalists and media houses is on the theme “Covid-19 and Credible Presidential and Parliamentary elections: The Media Factor.

The GJA Awards for Best Regional Radio Stations across the sixteen Regions of the country (which is category four of the awards) seek to recognise outstanding achievements in the radio industry in Ghana. It is a credible, well-judged transparent programme that promotes and recognises excellence in the Radio industry, with the objective of ensuring that radio remains one of Ghana’s foremost media choices.

Information available to Nkilgi FM indicates the Best Radio station Awards for the various regions of the country were selected based on a number of criteria including stories that have made a huge social impact.

Bole based Nkilgi Fm has runned many social and community stories and has won the ‘Story Of the Year’ Award at the Hyperlink Media Awards 2019 with the story of how a Snake Bite Primary School Pupil of Tailorpe Primary School in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region was saved from near certain death by Nkilgi Fm.

Other considerations are continuous commitment to good Radio broadcasting and dedication to covering stories the way they are, ensuring that the people have a right to be informed, have a right to get news and giving a voice to the voiceless.

Wide listernership, Social media presence and news penetration were also considered.
