The Northern Regional Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has taken the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the cleaners over comments which suggest former President John Dramani Mahama did nothing for the northern part of the country during his reign.
The NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Alhaji Adam Samba in an earlier report captured by CitiNewsroom said the former President did nothing for northern Ghana and must therefore be rejected in 2020 elections.
The NDC has described as vile propaganda and tribal bigotry the statement made by the NPP scribe.
In a statement issued by the Regional Communication Officer of NDC Abdul-Mumin Alhassan, said the bigotry statement is not only irresponsible, reckless and shameful but it is also a blatant lie that President Mahama did nothing for northern Ghana.
“The statement should therefore be treated with the contempt it deserves. This irresponsible statement did not come to us as surprise at all because the NPP and their assigns of which Chairman Samba is part of, over the years under Ghana’s democratic dispensation, particularly under the watch of the current President Nana Akufo Addo have gained notoriety for such tribal bigotry pronouncements,” it noted.

It has come to the attention of the Northern Regional
Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a
certain news item carried by citinewsroom.com
and some other online news portals as well as social media platforms
which is attributed to the NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Alhaji Adam
Samba to the effect that the five regions in northern Ghana namely
Northern Region, Savannah Region, North East Region, Upper East and
Upper West Region respectively, should reject HE John Dramani Mahama in
2020 general elections according to the statement that President Mahama
allegedly did nothing for northern Ghana.
First of all, this bigotry statement is not only irresponsible, reckless
and shameful but it is also blatant a lie that President Mahama did
nothing for northern Ghana. The statement should therefore be treated
with the contempt it deserves. This irresponsible statement did not come
to us as surprise at all because the NPP and their assigns of which
Chairman Samba is part of, over the years under Ghana’s democratic
dispensation, particularly under the watch of the current President Nana
Akufo Addo have gained notoriety for such tribal bigotry
pronouncements. Ordinary, the NDC in region would not be bothered but to
the extent that the npp is rehearsing the same vile propaganda they
used against President Mahama and NDC in the 2016 elections, there is
the need to set the records straight.
It is laughable and shameful that the same lies and deliberate fabrications that the npp used prior to 2016 to hoodwink many unsuspecting Ghanaian voters to vote for them, they are still dreaming of employing similar modus operandi ahead of 2020 general elections. The northern regional NPP chairman Alhaji Adam Samba and his party npp would only be living in fool’s paradise if they still think that they can adopt lies and fabrications to win elections 2020. Indeed, they must wake up to the reality, which is that, many Ghanaians are anxiously waiting for December 2020 general elections to kick the inept, clueless and corrupt Akufo Addo-Bawumia npp government out of office on 7th December 2020. In fact, the signals are getting clearer by each passing day, Ghanaians cannot afford live under the npp government for additional single day after 7th January 2021. Posterity will not forgive Ghanaians if npp is not kickout from office on 7th December 2020. Failure to kickout the corrupt and nepotistic Akufo Addo-Bawumia NPP government in 2020 will amount to mortgaging our own destiny as nation and the destinies of generations yet unborn.
The northern regional NPP Chairman Alhaji Adam Samba claimed that President Mahama did nothing for northern Ghana for which reason he made that bogus call on the good people of northern Ghana to reject JM and NDC in 2020 general elections.
Perhaps Chairman Samba would do himself a lot of good if he rather redirects his energy towards winning the confidence of the grassroot members of his own party in the region.
Maybe Chairman Samba should rather think of how to fulfil some of his unrealistic promises he made to his own party footsoldiers and constituency executives prior to becoming the northern regional npp Chairman such as his promise to ensure that 2 people from each constituency are sent to Makkah every year to perform the annual Hajj (Islamic) rituals. This is a promise for which reason his own party members have been ‘chasing’ him over almost on yearly basis (Hajj period) since he assumed office as northern regional NPP Chairman.
In fact, we wish to remind Alhaji Adam Samba that he is not
just an NPP regional Chairman but also Muslim as well. One would have
expected that, even if his partisan disposition will ordinarily deprive
him of speaking the truth, he would have at least been truthful to
himself and his conscience and acknowledge one important development
that President Mahama’s government brought for the good people of north
northern, i.e the expansion of the Tamale airport to an International
Airport. The upgrade of the Tamale airport made it possible for Muslim
pilgrims from all parts of northern Ghana and even neighbouring Burkina
Faso etc. to take direct flight from Tamale International Airport
straight to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia without having to travel the
usual 12 or 15 hours (long distances) from various parts of northern
Ghana to El-Wak stadium or the temporal Hajj village in Accra to spend
days or weeks before their final departure to Makkah. It is a matter of
fact and record that, President Mahama is the one who made this
development a reality having recognized the fact that, his Muslim
brothers and sisters from northern Ghana used to struggle in order to
travel down to Accra and sometimes sleep under very harsh weather
conditions.
Tamale International airport development is a significant one, therefore
every sincere and honest person who has northern Ghana at heart
especially Muslims ought to acknowledge and appreciate it without
playing the usual petty partisan politics with. Since 2016, can Chairman
Samba tell us that he has not been escorting and welcoming his friends,
family members and party members to and from the Tamale International
Airport from Makkah. If he thinks the Tamale airport development is
insignificant, he should point to one single development project the
corrupt Akufo Addo-Bawumia government has delivered to northern Ghana.
In fact, Chairman Samba should even be apologizing to the good people of
northern Ghana on behalf of his clueless npp government for
deliberately delaying the start of work regarding the second phase of
the Tamale International Airport because, President Mahama government
secured the money for both the first phase and second phase projects. If
President Mahama had won 2016 elections, the second phase which corrupt
Akufo Addo only cut sod for work to begin recently after incessant
pressure on his government, would have been nearing completion this year
if not totally completed already. The airport infrastructure
development will significantly open up northern Ghana to the rest of the
world for purposes of international tourism, trade and development of
the hospitality industry. This certainly have positive impact on the
lives of the good people of northern Ghana now and in the future and
cannot be seen as insignificant development in northern Ghana as
Chairman Samba wants Ghanaians to believe.
We also wish to remind Chairman Samba and all those who think like him particularly the npp to take the good people of northern Ghana serious by refraining from such ugly, petty partisan and bigotry pronouncements that only seek to belittle the intelligence of the people in northern Ghana. The good people of the north do not need any ill advice from people like Chairman Samba and his cohorts in order to decide who to give their support or mandate to during elections. Indeed, but for PNDC/NDC, the entire northern Ghana would probably still be in darkness today without electricity. The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) second phase which was commissioned earlier this year by the incompetent health minister Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu is one of the legacies of President Mahama, he cut the sod for construction to begin in 2014/2015. As a result of the completion of the second phase, TTH now has about 800 bed capacity up from the initial 400 bed capacity after the completion of the first phase which was constructed under late President Mill administration. The original by the NDC government is to expand the TTH to 1000 bed capacity.
TTH is very dear to the heart of people in northern Ghana because it is the ONLY referral hospital in the northern part of the Ghana. Therefore, Chairman Samba cannot seek to discount the significance of such important infrastructure development in northern Ghana.
Finally, we wish to challenge Chairman Samba to rather demand from his own party in government under the leadership of corrupt Akufo Addo-Bawumia to rather declare GHANA BEYOND CORRUPTION. This is important because, corruption has become a social intervention policy under corrupt Akufo Addo-Bawumia npp government. One District, One Factory (1D1F) has now become One Day, One Fraud (1D1F). One Village; One Dam promise has become many villages; one pond. In less than three years, petrol prices have gone up by 57.9% per gallon since 2017 thus a gallon of petrol now goes for Ghc24.21 from Ghc14 in 2016. Chairman Samba rather be worried that as regional Chairman of the ruling npp party in government, insecurity has become the order of the day. In fact, within the northern regional capital, Tamale where Chairman Samba himself lives, armed robbery attacks and even killing of innocent people are on the increase. Yet Chairman Samba whose party is in government today with all the state machinery at its disposal including regional minister who is the Chairman of regional security council (REGSEC) and MMDCEs is not concerned about the safety of the people due to high level of insecurity rather he is interested in bigotry and dishonest commentary. These and many other important issues are the things that Chairman Samba ought to revert his mind to and put pressure on his own clueless npp government to deliver on their manifesto promises if he wants to remain relevant even within his own npp party in the region.
