Deputy Chief of Staff of Ghana who doubles as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Damongo Constituency of the Savannah Region Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor has facilitated the installation a digital X-ray machine for the West Gonja Catholic Hospital in Damongo through the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS).
The West Gonja Catholic Hospital was without an X-ray machine after the one the facility was using developed a problem.
Patients with cases that involves the use of the X-ray machine had to be reffered to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The hospital through the assistance of Abu Jinapor acquired an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) at a cost of Ghc131,724.93 which saw the installation of the X-ray machine with power to the machine expected to be stabilized through the automatic voltage regulator stabiliser.
The Deputy Chief of Staff in a short speech said he was very happy that at long last the hospital will have a functioning X-ray machine in operation to serve the people and further commended the management and staff of the hospital for the good work they are doing for not only the people of Damongo but also the entire Savannah Region.
Mr Jinapor said the he is very happy that finally the issue of X-ray machine has become a thing of the past and recounted the appeal to him by the hospital administration last year to assist them source funding from National Health Insurance Authority (NHIS) for the instalmention of an X-ray machine.
The NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Damongo Constituency said he made sure he facilited in making sure the funds were released for the machine to be installed since the machine will reduce the cost burden that patients incur as a result of travelling all the way to Tamale to access C-ray machine services.
On the issue of Coronavirus, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor praised the hospital for the efforts put in place to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Speaking to the media at a short ceremony, the Medical Superintendent of the Damongo Catholic Hospital, Dr Vitalis Saadare Anlaagmen on behalf of the hospital thanked Mr Jinapor for all that he has been doing for the hospital and went further to thank the Damongo Constituency NPP Parliamentary candidate for donating some Personal Protection Equipment to the hospital in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and again donating some 100 vials of anti-snake venom to the facility last week which Dr Anlaagmen said was very timely since this is the period of farming where the hospital mostly records high number of cases of snake bites.
The West Gonja Catholic Hospital Medical Superintendent conducted the the Deputy Chief of Staff who was in the company of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril Jegede and some NPP Constituency executives round the hospital after briefing them about the preparedness of the hospital in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.
They team visited the recently commissioned Neonatal Unit of the hospital which was funded by the Japanese Embassy in Ghana where Mr Jinapor promised donating two additional incubators to the facility that will help the hospital cater for pre-termmed baby situations.
