The Paramount Chief of the Kong Traditional Area of Gonja, Kongwura Seidu Jinkurge (I) has appealed to the various political parties to exercise restrain when engaging in political activities.
Kongwura Jinkurge made these statements at this year’s Kong Damba Durbar held at the forecort of the Kongwura’s palace on Sunday 5th October, 2024.
The Kong Paramount Chief Chief used the opportunity to call for peace before, during and after the 2024 general elections to facilitate a free and fair election.
Speaking at the event, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole Bamboi Constituency Hon Alhaji Yussif Sulemana who represented the Flagbearer of the National democratic Congress (NDC) H.E. John Dramani Mahama plegded to preach the message of peace at any given opportunity.
Hon Yussif Sulemana praised the Kongwura for a well planned Damba festival which will go a long way to project the rich tradition and culture of Gonjaland to the world.
In his address, Hon Yussif Sulemana Ori assured the people of Kong that former president John Dramani Mahama will not forget them if voted into Power hence the need for the people to vote massively for the NDC to win the upcoming elections on December 7, 2024.
The MP for the Sawla Tuna Kalba Constituency Hon Chiwitey Andrews also showered praises on the Kongwura and the people of Kong for their hospitality and plegded to promote peace in the upcoming December polls.
Hon Chiwitey Andrews also promised the people of Kong to work on the Kong – Tuna Road when the NDC returns to power.
He said that there are more plans in the pipeline for the good people of Kong, All he is asking them to do is to go out and vote for him and John Dramani Mahama to win the upcoming December polls.
