Paramount chief of the Mankpan Traditional Area, Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi (I) has called on the sons and daughters of the land to join hands in the development of the area.
Addressing the Chiefs and people of the Mankpan Traditional Area at the weekend in the 2024 edition of the Mankpan Damba under the theme “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence: The Role Of Traditional Leaders In Peace Building”, Mankpanwura Achor-Ade appealed that the development of the area is a shared responsibility which everybody must join hands, both home and away since that cannot be done solely by one person.
He said;
“Your resources, influence and contributions are very critical to shaping the future of the Mankpan traditional area”.
Mankpnwura mentioned further that the area is lacking behind in the areas of education, health care, portable drinking water among others which he believes that the coming together of everybody in the area will change the story in the very near future.
In the area of security, the Mankpanwura appealed to the Inspector General of police through the DCE of the Central Gonja District and Savannah Regional Police Command to establish a Police post at Domeabra since that will serve the entire Mankpan enclave in ensuring law and order in the area.
He also used the opportunity to preach for peace ahead of the 2024 election as the eyes of the whole world is on Ghana.
Naa Dr. Agbaah Jaaga III, Gbampewa Kooro and special guest of honor for the occasion in a speech also preached for peace in the area and advocated for the development of the area. He said there can never be development without peace and therefore appealed to the people of the Mankpan Traditional Area to ensure a peaceful coexistence as one people.
The Savannah Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Imoro Man Blessing on behalf of former President John Mahama took part in the 2024 Mankpan Damba and appealed to the people of the Mankpan Traditional Area to vote massively for the NDC for the development of the area.
Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu also on behalf of Dr. Bawumia was part of the occasion and also appealed to the people to elect Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as Ghana’s president in the 2024 polls.
The festival was used to launch the Achor-Ade Gonja Cloth in honor of the Paramount Chief of the Mankpan Traditional Area.
