The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor has embarked on the fixing and replacement of some 200 street lights in the Larabanga community of the West Gonja Municipality of the Savanah Region.
The fixing of the lights according to the office of the MP will bring to an end to issues and effects of darkness in the streets of the community.
The Damongo MP visited the Larabanga community on Sunday 21st January, 2024 in the night and noticed the entire town was in darkness and made a promise to fix 200 street lights to brighten up the community. He indicated that the absence of working street lights can have significant implications for the community, which can affect various aspects of the daily life of residents.
The malfunctioning street lights have created a significant discomfort for residents, particularly while walking. This unfortunate situation has also led to an increase in petty crimes in the area with residents’ mobility restricted and their sense of security is negatively impacted as they feel uneasy while strolling at night.
