The St Martins Memorial School at Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality has held its awards and dinner night aimed at rewarding its gallant teachers for their outstanding performances towards the delivery of quality education in the school.
The awards and dinner night on Saturday saw both teaching and non teaching staff of the school winning awards for the previous years.
The St Martins Memorial School was established on 20 th February 2019 to provide high quality education in a serene environment to residents of Damongo and it’s environs.
The school which has nursery, primary and now boasts of a junior high school instituted the 2024 Awards And Dinner Night to reward hardworking and deserving staff for their numerous contributions over the years.
In her address, the proprietoress of the school Miss Joana Ewuntomah expressed gratitude to Almighty God for his immense grace on her and the school.
” I’m very happy to see that with God by my side, my very small idea of making my workers, my teachers, my staff the opportunity to see that hardwork thirsts good and different has really come to a success.”
According to her, the school does not only teach pupils on how to study and excel in exams but also groom them into useful citizens and leaders.
” Since our existence the school has been grooming both pupils and teachers to be sustainable leaders for the wider community and respecting nature and of course the environment has also been one utmost thing we do.”
She applauded the hardworking staff for their unflinching support and determination to the school.
” The teachers of St Martins Memorial School are so dedicated and this dedication has really developed the school. My noble teachers have made my school standard and we are afraid of nothing. So we celebrate you today, tomorrow and forever.”
Miss Joana further commended the parents for their co-operation towards the institution.
A representative of the municipal director of education Roland Baba promised the educational outfit would always do its best to see to the upliftment of education in the municipality.
” My director has pledged that every support they need, I think the directorate will do that for them.”
The chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association PTA Ewuntomah lauded the teachers for their perseverance and called on them to put in their best for the growth of the future leaders.
The Overall Best Teacher of the Year Award was awarded to Ganiu Mahama who took home a brand new Mapuka Logia Motorbike.
In the end all teaching and non teaching staff were honoured with prizes reaching from refrigerator, television sets, fans, hampers, among others for their dedication and hardwork to the moral and academic well being of the pupils of the school.
A symbolic minute of silence was observed for the soul of St Martins whose name the school bears for his contributions to the development of humanity.
