The Fufulso Presbyterian Child and Youth Development Centre in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region has held an end of year community durbar to celebrate the achievement of the center since it’s establishment in the last 3 years.
Speaking at a colourful event held in Fufulso on Saturday 23rd December 2023 attended by the members of the community including chiefs, parents, opinion leaders and kids of the center, the project director of the centre, Mr Bismark Blankson indicated that the project started in September 2020, and has been ministering a holistic development program to over 200 children and their families with the focus being on health, education, livelihood empowerment and skills development.
He added that the center is a Church-based child development Centre where children receive life-changing development opportunities to grow and develop with the primary aim of releasing them from poverty.
Mr Bismark indicated further that the center is an extension of the children’s ministry of the Fufulso Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana with a broader scope of ministering to over 200 children and their families in the community as well as supporting community developmental interventions which commenced in September 2020, in partnership with Compassion International Ghana, a nongovernmental organization.
Touching on the impact made so far, he disclosed that the centre has improved academic performance and reduced the incidents of diseases among the children including an improvement on water and sanitation in the Fufulso community.
Speaking under the theme: “Celebrating 3 years of child development: Protecting the children, protecting the future; our collective responsibility”, the Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Northern Presbytery Rev. Simon Kofi Yeboah admonished participant including caregivers to be cautious in caring for the children.
Reverend Yeboah mentioned reminded them further that children are precious gifts from God and deserves to be treasured with our all.
The project Pastor of the center, Rev. Jasper Maas also in an address used the occasion to thank all stakeholders including chiefs, the assembly and partner – Compassion International Ghana for the continued partnership in ensuring the growth and upkeep of the center.
Rev. Jasper was full of praise for the committed volunteers and staff of the project and encouraged them to keep doing their best for a greater impact and development of the center.
Some children, volunteers and caregivers were recognized and honored for their outstanding performance,
commitments and contributions over the years.
