The Partners in Participatory Development (PAPADEV) a non Governmental organization operating in the Savannah Region has held an end of project meeting for it’s core stakeholders on the sustainability of project achievements on 15th June 2023.
The Executive Director PAPADEV Mr. Eddie Telly in his welcome Address said, 170 women benefitted from the sustainability project since it’s inception.
He also said, women from Seripe and Kiape in the Bole District and Jentilpe in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District are some of the communities that benefited from the project.
Mr Eddie Telly further said, the Kiape and Jentilpe projects were sponsored by GEF/Small Grants Project and the Seripe community project was also sponsored by PISCCA project, funded by the French Embassy
He furtger said that PAPADEV trainned some of their beneficiaries on how to produce Organic Shea-butter by providing a mini Shea butter factories to the respective communities.
Mr Eddie Telly thanked the Forestry Services Commission, Department of the Social Welfare, Community Development, Rural Enterprises Foundation, and the Traditional Authorities, Bole Nkilgi Fm and Yagbon Radio and the communities that took part in the inception workshop as well as radio talkshows and forum to sensitize the communities on landscape degradation, conservation of biodiversity and sacred site management options.
He added that there were lots of capacity building and livelihood development especially in beekeeping and Organic honey production for 30 young men and women. Organic Shea butter production and fruit juice production using local fruits were part of the training given them.
