The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Yapei- Kusawgu Constituency of the Savannah Region Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor has said that he is not surprised his younger brother Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor won the Damongo Constituency seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stating “at a point in time I could see that he was making in roads”.
Hon. John Jinapor in an interview with Accra-based Asempa Fm monitored by Bole based Nkilgi Fm told Osei Bonsu aka OB who is host of Asempa Fm’s afternoon political programme “Ekosii Sen” that he realised his brother will win the contest when he went to Janikura (Mile 7) which is the last community of his Constituency towards the first community in the Damongo Constituency called Kojokura. He the people of Janikura (Mile 7) community bluntly told him they won’t vote for him because the nearby community Kojokura in the Damongo Constituency do snatch their girlfriends from them because Abu Jinapor provided them sound systems.
The Yapei-Kusawgu MP said “the people told me Samuel Jinapor bought the people of Kojokura some sound systems which they do play every Friday and so their girlfriends go there and so boys in the Kojokura community snatches their girlfriends from them”.
Hon Jinapor added the community tasked him to buy them sound systems or they won’t vote for him.
Hon John Jinapor further disclosed that he tried convincing the people of the Janikura (Mile 7) community that their road have been tarred, lights connected to the community with other development projects added but the boys in the community said the tarring of the road has made the road so smooth for their girls to go to the other side of the community in the Damongo Constituency for “jams”.
According to the Yapei-Kusawgu MP he bought the sound system a day to the election but it was too late and so he lost in the Janikura community.
“So Samuel (Abu Jinapor) knew what the people in that area need and had worked hard to win their votes”; the MP said.
Hon. John Jinapor said he will miss the former MP for Damongo Constituency Hon Adam Mutawakilu Garlus whom he affectionately called “the great one”.
