Hajia Safia Mohammed, the First Deputy National Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially declared her intention to contest for the position of National Women’s Organiser in the party’s upcoming internal elections.

Hailing from the Savannah Region, Hajia Safia has a rich history of political engagement within the NPP. She previously served as the Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer and was later appointed as the Deputy National Women’s Organizer. Her dedication and contributions to the party’s women’s wing have been recognized, earning her the Outstanding Female Politician of the Year award at the 2023 Northern Excellence Awards.

Hajia Safia’s campaign for the National Women’s Organizer position is expected to focus on empowering women within the party, enhancing grassroots mobilization, and building upon the successes achieved during her previous roles.

Hajia Safia Mohammed in a statement said; “My active participation in the political space, notably as a Deputy Northern Regional Women’s Organizer to a Substantive Regional Women’s Organizer in the Savannah Region and currently the 1st Deputy National Women’s Organizer of the NPP and a member of the National Campaign Team for the just-ended 2024 elections”.

She added; “I am fully aware that I stand on the shoulders of great women who have steered the affairs of our Party. In this regard, I wish to commend my boss Mama Kate Gyamfua the current National Women’s Organizer for her stewardship and unwavering dedication to the success and growth of the New Patriotic Party. Her leadership has laid a solid foundation upon which I hope to build and drive our Party to even greater heights.

Hajia Safia Mohammed further said; “It is imperative that we strengthen our structures, deepen unity, enhance communication, and foster vibrant engagement with all stakeholders from the grassroots to the national leadership”.

She added that with her blend of academic discipline, political experience, organizational leadership, and deep-rooted connection with the people, she is well positioned to serve and deliver as the next National Organiser of the NPP.

“I, therefore, humbly seek the support and blessings of all National, Regional, Constituency, Electoral Area Coordinators and Polling Station Executive Committees, TESCON branches, and the entire rank and file of the NPP as I offer myself for service to our Party.
Together, with unity, hard work, and vision, we shall break new grounds and secure a resounding victory for the NPP”; she added.

Brief Profile of Hajia Safia Mohammed

Hajia Safia Mohammed began her academic journey in Tamale at Lamashegu Junior High School in the year (1997-1998) as Girls prefect and progressed through Northern School of Business (2001-2002) as Assistant Girls Prefect and Tamale Polytechnic now Tamale Technical University in the year 2006-2007 as Students Representative Council (SRC) Women’s Commissioner, Governing Council Member, Tescon Organiser, Central Committee Member of SRC women Commissioners (GNUPS), Legal and political committee member(GNUPS).

Hajjia Safia Mohammed became an astute politician of humble beginnings and rose from the ranks of the political ladder in the NPP to an enviable position on the national hierarchy on the women front today.

Hajjia Safia through hardwork and dedication to the NPP rose to the position of Deputy Northern Regional Women Organiser. She was also a appointed as a Regional Campaign Team member during election 2016.

Hajjia Safia served as two (2) term Savannah regional women’s Organiser and was later appointed as Savannah regional School Feeding program coordinator.

Her tenacity and love for the NPP saw her elevation to the post of Deputy National Women’s Organiser till date.

She is a Member of the NPP National Council and a member of thr National Executive Committee.

Hajjia Safia served as the Welfare Chairperson of the Ghana Hajj Board and also served as the National Coordinator of the Ghana School feeding program under President Nana Akufo Addo.
