The National Ambulance Service in the Bole area has been lauded for its prompt and effective response following a tragic accident round 3:00pm on June 2, 2025, near Talikura, close to Maluwe in the Savannah Region.
The incident involved a Yutong yellow mini-bus, resulting in the immediate deaths of a woman and her three children and another person. Several others sustained critical injuries, with two, including the bus driver, succumbing to their injuries despite emergency interventions.
Assemblyman for the Tinga Electoral Area, Hon. Dramani Alhassan Kennedy, praised the Tinga National Ambulance Service for their efficiency. He emphasized that the swift transportation of the injured to the Bamboi and Tinga Polyclinic and other nearby medical facilities, such as the Teselima Hospital, was instrumental in saving lives.
The Head of the Tinga National Ambulance Station Mr Seidu Abubakari confirmed the accident to Bole based Nkilgi fm, but refrained from providing detailed figures, noting that a report had been submitted to the Regional Office and that some victims were still receiving medical attention. He commended the Police for getting to the scene first and collaborating with National Ambulance Service personnel to convey the injured to the various health facilities in the area
Mr Abubakari cited multiple causes of accidents on the Bole-Bamboi road, including its poor condition, overspeeding, overloading, and the use of worn-out tires.
Preliminary accounts suggest that a tire burst, possibly due to over-speeding on the deteriorated road, led to the accident.
This incident has intensified calls from residents for the government to address the deplorable state of the Bole to Bamboi road.
The Wa-Sawla-Bole-Bamboi road, a crucial Trans-ECOWAS route linking the Upper West and Savannah regions to southern Ghana, has been in disrepair since its last upgrade in 2007.
Commuters have reported that journeys which should take approximately 1.5 hours now extend to nearly four hours due to the road’s condition.
