Newly elected Vice- President of the National House of Chiefs of Ghana, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor (II) has returned home to rousing welcome following his election to occupy the highest office of the national house of chiefs.
Hundreds of residents of the Buipe township cladded in white paraded the principal streets of Buipe on Monday 28th November, 2024 to show how proud they were of the historic election of the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area of Gonja to that high office.
Buipewura’s victory marks a historic milestone as he becomes the first Paramount Chief in the Savannah Region to hold the distinguished position.
Buipewura Jinapor (II) in a speech indicated that his victory is a seed sown for the Savannah Region and therefore needs the technical support in the discharge of his duties as the vice president of the National House of Chiefs.
He indicated further that his new position comes with strategies and developmental ideas to the Savannah Region.
The new Vice-President of the National House of Chiefs hinted of the immediate formation and launching of the Jinapor Foundation in December aimed at supporting the brilliant but needy students in thr Savannah Region.
Buipewura Jinapor (II) mentioned further that the foundation will also focused on the attraction of investors into the Savannah Region through effective local and diaspora collaboration and networking.
The new era of transformative Chieftaincy according to the Buipewura will establish the Savannah Region farmers association or brigade across the domain of the Savannah Region.
He said the farmers association will front the agriculture sector of the region, thereby positioning the region strategically in resolving food security matters of the region and beyond.
On election 2024, he said both the candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are sons of the north, hence there is no winner or loser in the December polls and cautioned the youth of the Savannah Region not to allow politicians to use them for violence.
On behalf of the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I), the Linguist of Yagbonwura Mr Adamsay on behalf mentioned that there should be respect among the elderly and youth in the Gonja Kingdom as that is missing.
He called on everybody in the Gonja Kingdom to support the Buipewura Jinapor (II) to achieve all that he has for the kingdom following his election.
Buipewura Jinapor won 54 out of 73 votes in a contest involving 4 other chiefs.
