The Paramount chief of the Buipe Traditional Area and President of the Buipe Traditional Council Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor (II) has appealed to the electoral commission of Ghana to ensure a free, fair and transparent election in the December polls.
Addressing the people of the Buipe traditional area during the 2024 annual Damba festival in Buipe over the weekend, Buipewura Jinapor said all that Ghana needs from the electoral commission is a transparent election.
He used the opportunity to advise the people of the Savannah Region and north not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to be used for chaos to mar the 2024 elections but rather should be ambassadors for peace since the people of Ghana are one people with a common destiny.
On the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Buipewura Jinapor said former President John Mahama and Dr Mamoud Bawumia are sons of the north and are his sons just like Hon. John Jinapor and Hon. Abu Jinapor.
He said the Jinapor brothers debate on issues to anchor development without involving politics of insults and acrimony
Buipewura indicated that the outcome of the election be victory for Ghana and the north in general.
The Director of the Ghana Ambulance Services and Special Guest of Honour for Buipe Damba 2024, Proffessor Ahmed Nuhu Zakaria in a speech said the leadership of Buipewura Jinapor in the Gonja Kingdom has recognized the vital role that traditional leadership plays in promoting tourism,art and culture in the Savannah Region.
He said through the vision of the Buipewura, many are seeing the potential for the vibrant culture of the Savannah Region which is attracting visitors across the world to the region.
The Savannah Regional Chairman of the NDC Alhaji Imoro Seidu aka Man Blessing on behalf of former President John Dramani Mahama donated an amount of GHc20000 to Buipewura Jinapor for the Damba festival and assured him that former President John Mahama will take part in the 2025 Damba festival as Ghana’s President.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana aka Professor Kalamonia has also donated an undisclosed amount to the support Buipe Damba 2024 on behalf of Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with the call on the people of Buipe to vote for him as the next President of Ghana.
