The Bole District Hospital in.the Savannah Region has successfully delivered triplets (all males) by Caesarean Section on 24th September, 2024. The mother had two previous Caesarean procedures.

Specialist Obstetrician Gynaecologist and Lead Obstetrician, Dr. Jonathan Wadeyir Abesig, led the surprise delivery, as multiple scans indicated twins.

Speaking to Bole based Nkilgi fm, Dr. Abesig who is also the Acting Medical Superintendent of the Bole District Hospital disclosed that, “This milestone marks the first triplet delivery in the new maternity complex built by former President H.E. John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama”.

He further explained that, “the Triplet births via natural conception occur at an incidence of approximately 1 in 10,000”.

He added that, “this is important to us because it tells us about the fact that there is the need for better diagnostic services”.

He added that,” this is the first time we are delivering triplets at Maternity Complex that was built by the Lordina Foundation and H.E. John Dramani Mahama”.

He concluded that it was a high risk pregnancy but the modern equipments made the delivery possible with mother and children safe.

Dr. Abesig appealed for support for the family, recognizing the unique challenges and joys of caring for triplets.

Mohammad Mujahid Baba who is from Tamale in the Northern Region said he is happy to have the triplets.
