The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has appealed to religious leaders in the Damongo constituency and beyond to intensify prayers for Allah’s mercies for the rains to fall to save crops that are dying as a result of drought.
The Damongo MP in a telephone interview disclosed that he will personally support farmers in the constituency but whilst waiting for the support, the Clergy including the Imams must join hands in continues prayers for God to intervene in the drought situation in the area.
He said the droughts are being felt as a result of the effects of the tree cutting over the years which he used the opportunity to appeal to the people of the Savannah Region to immediately hault and urged especially the people of the Damongo constituency to support his Green Damongo Project by planting more trees.
Earlier on Monday 12th August,2024, Hon. Abu Jinapor joined the
Muslim Ummah in the Damongo town for a prayer session known as Salat Al- Istisqa, which is a special Islamic prayer seeking divine intervention in times of drought.
Many farmlands across the region are in serious crisis as for over one month, the region has not experienced rainfall.
These is the season for farming with over 90% of the population in the region engaged in farming as the main occupation of the people.
Animals are not left out as grasses are also dying as a result of the lack of rainfall in the region.
