West Africa’s largest National Park, Mole National Park in the Savannah Region of Ghana has joined the world in celebrating the 2024 edition of the World Ranger Day, a day set aside to remember the important work that rangers do for conservation of the world’s important places including the Mole National Park. As part of activities marking the day, some of the the courageous men and women who safeguard the park were honoured by the management of the park.
The Manager of the Mole National Park, Chief Mahama Ali reminded a gathering on 31st July, 2024 that the World Ranger Day is celebrated worldwide and appealed for everybody to take the opportunity of the day to educate the masses about the importance of wildlife conservation since it is becoming a serious problem in the country when it comes to the conservation of wildlife.
He commended the government for passing the wildlife law which will help in the protection of wildlife in Ghana. He said it is high time everyone reflect and respect on the responsibility towards nature reaffirming it towards future generations.
He added that the Management of the park is incredibly proud of their dedicated ranger team at the Mole National Park , who inspire them with their unwavering commitment and bravery every day.
Chief Ali Mahama said; “Let’s unite in support of these remarkable men and women and express our gratitude for their tireless efforts in protecting our wildlife, communities and habitats.
The Municipal Chief executive for West Gonja Mr Musah Kusubari Karim praised the management and staff of the Mole National Park for their dedicated service to the park by protecting the wildlife for future generations.
With the support of the MCE for West Gonja Municipal, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubaare, the Municipal Police Commander for West Gonja, and other dignitaries, Mole National Park honored their outstanding rangers for their continued dedication and hard work yesterday.
World Ranger Day is celebrated around the world on July 31st each year on the anniversary of the founding of The International Ranger Federation (IRF), an organization that supports the work of rangers as the key protectors of parks and conservation. World Ranger Day will also be a day to remember the many rangers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty while protecting national and state parks.
