Vice- President Dr Mahamud Bawumia has appealed to delegates in the Savanna Region to give him the nod to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to defeat former President John Dramani Mahama once again.
Dr Bawumia made the comments in the Damongo constituency during his campaign tour of the region on Saturday 14th October, 2023.
According to the NPP Flagbearer aspirant, he has the track record to lead the NPP and defeat former President John Dramani Mahama after having beaten the former President twice. He said he knows how to beat John Dramani Mahama again in the 2024 elections to ensure the party is able to “break the 8.”
Dr Bawumia said;
”’I have beaten him twice already and I know how to defeat him again in the 2024 elections”.
Vice-President Bawumia therefore urged delegates in the region to vote for him massively in the primaries for victory 2024 since he will kickstart his campaign the next day after winning the primaries.
He reminded delegates that Bawumia has become a household name across Ghana after touring every corner in the country for the past years as running mate to President Nana Akufo Addo.
“As we go for the presidential primaries. We need someone who can help us retain. We need a selfless leader to lead the party and not a richer man. We need someone who has humility. We need someone who has a track record. We need someone who has the temperament. We need someone who has innovative ideas and has tolerance for everyone”; he said.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia mentioned the many interventions he brought onboard as vice President including the digitalisation agenda which is transforming Ghana adding that he has the political experience in campaigning and winning elections against John Mahama the NDC presidential candidate.
He added that he has done a lot to reduce the number of seats in the Northern Region as running mate and will win more seats and increase the number of votes in the region if he becomes the flagbearer.
The NPP Chairman for the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wuntumi appealed to delegates in the region to give Dr Bawumia a 100% endorsement since every region in Ghana is standing by him in 2024 to break the 8.
