The Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has donated a brand new pickup vehicle to the Savannah Region education directorate to enhance supervision and monitoring of the various schools in the region.

The Minister made the donation as part of activities marking the 66th anniversary of Ghana’s Independence held in Damongo on the 6th March,2023.

Addressing the people of Damongo during the presentation, Hon. Abu Jinapor bemoaned the fallen standards of education in the region and appealed to authorities in the region to help change the narrative in the coming years.

He commended the Savannah Region director of education Hajia Katumi Atta for the role she is playing towards the uplifting of education in the region.

He mentioned again that, monitoring and supervision is very important in the region when it comes to education as it will enhance the collection of information that will inform and facilitate improvement in classroom practices.

Hon Jinapor also on behalf of the President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo handed over another brand new pickup vehicle to the education directorate to enhance Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) in the region and assured staff and students of Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School that very soon, they will recieve a pickup vehicle from President Akufo- Addo in the coming days as he promised them.

The MP said plans are underway to equip the West Gonja Municipal Assembly to enhance their duties in making sure education is seriously tackled in the region.

On unity, the Damongo MP urged his constituents to see themselves as indigenes of Ghana and the Savanna Region who are one people with a common a destiny irrespective of the tribal and religious backgrounds.

He used the opportunity to commend the Gonja Kingdom in the peaceful manner in which the succession in selecting a new Yagbonwura was done after the funeral of the late Yagbonwura was done.

The West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr Musah Karim Kusubari on behalf of the municipality also praised the education directorate as four (4) students from the region were selected to receive the presidents Independence day awards with many of the Senior High Schools representing the region in national competitions.

Chiefs, Security Agencies, Students, Heads of Departments and students from the various schools in the West Gonja municipality participated in the celebration with some schools receiving awards after the match pass.
