The Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has held a lunch feast with Departments and Agencies at Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the savannah region as part of activities to mark this year’s independence day celebrations.

The feast was held at the forecourt of the MP’s constituency office on Sunday, 5th March, 2023.

In an address, Hon. Jinapor explained that the purpose for the gathering which he initiated in the year 2022 was meant to bring together all and sundry in the Damongo constituency to have the feel of nationhood on the occasion of the 66th independence day celebrations of the country.

said, he and his wife thought it appropriate to at least once in a year bring the people together as one family and not as political parties to mark a national event that brings people of all shades together to remind them that they are one people with a common destiny and fighting for the welfare of their people and for the future of their country, region, municipality and constituency.

He further explained that the essence of the gathering was also meant to appreciate them for working so hard for the municipality and also for the region.

Hon. Jinapor expressed his gratitude to those still in active service for their service to the country, the region and the municipality and urged them to continue to do more and forge ahead in unity in order to bring progress,welfare, development and relief to the people.

He also thanked all retirees in the constituency who have served in different capacities but in many cases not recognised.

The occasion was well attended by heads of departments and their subordinates from all departments and agencies in the West Gonja municipality including Chiefs, the clergy, the media and security services among others.
