The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency of the Savannah Region, Hon Adam Mutawakilu Garlus, has redeemed his pledge to the Ndewura Jakpa Senior Technical High School in Damongo by donating a set of Brass Band to the school for their cadet, sporting and other activities.

The MP made a pledge to the school in 2019 at a similar ceremony where he donated sets of jerseys to all the houses in the school. At the earlier ceremony, the aide to the MP, Kudus Gbeadese who presented the sets of jerseys and some cash to the houses, announced to the school of the MP’s resolve to provide the brass band following the formal request from the headmaster and the school management to the office of the MP.

This is in addition to the numerous interventions and support of Hon Mutawakilu in the education sub sector.

It would be recalled that the MP initiated the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) award scheme to best students and the best school in the 2017/18 academic year. Also, the MP over this period has supported the Annual Spelling Bee competition organised by Royal’s club. To further the agenda of gender parity, he supported CAMFED with some financial support to purchase and donate some academic materials to some selected needy but brilliant girls.

The MP has pledged his continuous support in every sector and most importantly in the area of education. He said he will do all these within his means and without any partisan political considerations.

Earlier last week, the MP for Damongo constituency Hon Adam Mutawakilu, has donated ten high density foam mattresses to the Savannah Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service.

This according to the MP is part of effort to create comfort for the fire officers and augment their work in the district and region at large.

At a short ceremony held in Damongo, the Savannah regional capital to hand over the logistics, the MP commended the fire Service officers for their dedicated service over the years.

The MP noted that the donation was part of a comprehensive plan he has for the fire station, adding that,”Insha Allah, when reelected, I will continue to honour all the pledges and more that will come my way”.

Mr Mutawakilu disclosed that he was presenting the ten mattresses running into thousands of Ghana cedis in honor of a promise he made sometime ago, saying,”I will always fulfil my promises to the people no matter how long it takes”.

He recounted his days as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the West Gonja District when he stood up with the support of the Mills-Mahama administration to ensure that the Damongo-Fulfulso-Sawla road was constructed.

Hon Adam Mutawakilu Garlus disclosed that during the said period, he worked with the then District Fire Commander to secure a Fire Tender or Fire Truck for the district.

The Deputy Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, DOI Mike Apiagyie expressed gratitude to the MP for the continuous support, noting that the donation was timely.

According to him, the staff is pleased with the quality of the mattresses and pledged to put them into good use.

The Deputy Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service disclosed that the regional and municipal command alike, were bedevilled with a lot of logistical constraints, but that not withstanding, his men are always ready to give Savannah Region and Damongo the needed fire cover in order to protect lives and property.

Like Oliver Twist, he appealed to the MP for more logistical support.

The Municipal Fire Commander, ADO II Philip Okumah placed a special request to the MP to support the Municipal Command with fuel to enable them respond to distressed calls as the dry season sets in.
