The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Daboya- Mankarigu Constituency of the Savannah Region Hon Mahama Shaibu Obei has on 30th May, 2020 handed over a new Ambulance to the Mankarigu Clinic in fulfilment of a promise the MP made after renovating the Mankarigu Clinic about a year ago.
Hon Mahama Shaibu Obei promised the people of Mankarigu an Ambulance to help alleviate the suffering the people go through in carrying their patients to and from the clinic to enhance health care delivery in the area, and the promise was premised on the fact that the only Ambulance in the Constituency which was donated by the MP’s predecessor, Hon Baani A. Nelson, is stationed in Daboya and could not carry patients from the Mankarigu area to major referral centers in the country.
Hon. Shaibu Mahama Obei in a brief address at Mankarigu during the donation thanked the people for keeping faith with him.
The MP also used the occasion to promise maintain the ambulance at the clinic to be given to the other communities who are also in need.
Hon Mahama Shaibu Obei amidst applause told the people of Mankarigu that, if in two weeks time the North Gonja District Assembly that promised to rewire the clinic is not responding to them, he will send electricians to take the estimate and he will provide the resources for it’s wiring.
The North Gonja District Director of Ghana Health Service, Mr. Alhassan, who received the Ambulance on behalf of the people of Mankarigu, thanked Hon. Shaibu Mahama for making such a huge donation to the people and the directorate as well, and promised that the Ambulance will be put into the purpose for which it was donated.
The Ambulance was acquired by Hon Mahama using the MP’s statutory funds from the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIS). The money is mandatory funds paid to every elected MP government.
The Daboya- Mankarigu MP was accompanied to Mankarigu by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency Executives for the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency including the Chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed Mutala, the Youth Organizer, Yakubu Mabrouk, the Organizer, Mahama Rashid and other constituency executives as well as some Youth members of NDC from Mankarigu.
